Affiliate disclosure

This site carries paid links. This page explains who pays, what they pay for, what that money influences, and what it does not.

The arrangement, stated plainly

Paramount Works is published by CleanSmov spol. s.r.o. The publisher participates in an affiliate programme through which Norton AntiVirus Plus is advertised. Where this site links to that product, the link is an advertisement: if you follow it and go on to purchase a subscription, the affiliate programme pays CleanSmov spol. s.r.o. a commission on that sale.

You are charged the vendor's own price. The commission is paid out of the vendor's margin and is not added to what you pay, and following a link from this site neither increases nor decreases the price you are offered.

Which links are paid

Every paid link on this site points to the same destination and is marked in three ways: it is labelled as an advertising link in a note directly beside it, it carries the sponsored and nofollow attributes that identify commercial links to search engines, and it opens the vendor's site in a new tab. The destination address is the affiliate programme's own address, visible in your browser's status bar before you click. Nothing on this domain redirects you, and no script changes where a link goes after the page has loaded.

Links to Australian government bodies — the ACCC, the OAIC, Scamwatch, the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the eSafety Commissioner — are not paid, and no arrangement of any kind exists with them. Links to testing laboratories are not paid. Links within this site are not paid. If a link is not to the advertised product, no money is involved in it.

What the commission influences

It decides scope. Norton AntiVirus Plus is covered here at the product level because of this commercial relationship, and no other product is covered at that level. A reader is entitled to know that the presence of that product on this site is a commercial fact rather than the conclusion of an assessment.

What it does not influence

• The content of explanations. The glossary, the detection page, the malware categories, the licensing page and the reporting page describe how things work in general and name no product in their explanations.
• Product statements. What this site says about the advertised product comes only from the affiliate network's listing. Where the listing is silent, the product notes page records the gap instead of filling it.
• Any ranking, because none is published. This site produces no scored comparison, no award and no "best" list. A publisher paid by one entrant is not in a position to rank the field, and pretending otherwise would be the problem this page exists to avoid.
• Editorial control by the vendor. The vendor does not commission, review, approve or see these pages before publication, and has no right to require a change to them.
• What the site collects about you. Nothing is collected, and no information about you is passed to the vendor by this site. Following a link takes you to the vendor's own site, where the vendor's privacy policy applies.

Why the disclosure appears so often

A disclosure is only useful where the decision is being made. This site therefore states the arrangement in the upper part of the homepage, in a note beside every paid link wherever one appears, and in full on this page. It is not placed in small print, not hidden behind a control that has to be opened, and not left to the footer alone.

Under the Australian Consumer Law, misleading or deceptive conduct in trade is prohibited, and that obligation applies to a publisher as much as to an advertiser. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission publishes guidance on advertising and selling, including on disclosing commercial relationships. Marking paid links clearly is the minimum that obligation requires.

What this publisher is not

CleanSmov spol. s.r.o. is not the vendor of any product described here, is not a reseller, and is not an authorised representative, partner or agent of any vendor. Nothing on this site is endorsed by, sponsored by or produced in cooperation with the vendor of the advertised product.

Norton AntiVirus Plus and all other product names, logos and brands mentioned on this site are the property of their respective owners. Paramount Works is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.
